November Brings New Tariff Increases in Buenos Aires

In November, new rate increases are expected for services such as gas, water, electricity, transport, health insurance, and private education. The government describes these increases as a recovery of delayed prices, while hoping that inflation will continue to decrease, remaining below 3% in the last quarter of 2024.

The average cost for water and sewage service will reach approximately 21,410 pesos next month. Variations in rates impact users differently; for example, those who only have water service will experience different increases depending on their area.

A 2.5% adjustment in electricity rates and a 2.7% adjustment in gas rates are expected, as confirmed by the government. Additionally, increases in fuel prices are anticipated, with a possible rise of between 3.5% and 3.8% in gasoline prices.

Starting from November 1, taxis in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires will increase their rates by 50%. This adjustment is in addition to a similar increase that took place in August. Other services such as health insurance and cable are also announcing new increases for next month, exceeding monthly inflation.

After intense negotiations, a new collective agreement was signed for domestic workers, with a 6% salary increase that will be applied in two phases. In November, new adjustments in private education services and the price of tuition in state-subsidized private schools in Buenos Aires province are also expected.
